A long, long time ago, in the hot and sunny land of Makkah, there lived a young boy named Talha, and his full name was Talha ibn Ubayd Allah, and he was from a big and famous tribe called Quraysh.

Early Life and Kindness

His family was rich, and they sold and traded things like cloth, food, and other goods, and Talha was clever and kind, and people liked him because he was honest, gentle, and helpful.
He never lied or cheated in business, and even when he was young, he helped poor people and smiled at everyone, and he would listen when old people spoke, and help children carry water or fruit.

Meeting the Prophet (PBUH)

One day, when he was older, he went on a trip to Syria to do trade, and on that trip, he met a man who said, “In Makkah, a new prophet has come, and his name is Muhammad, and he speaks about one God only,” and Talha became curious and wanted to know more.
So when he came back to Makkah, he went to see this man named Muhammad (peace be upon him), and when he met him, he felt peace in his heart.
The Prophet (PBUH) told him, “There is no god but Allah, the One who made the sky, the stars, the sun, the trees, and the people,” and the Prophet spoke gently and kindly and said, “Worship Allah alone and do good to others,” and Talha listened and said, “This is true.”

Embracing Islam

Right away he said the Shahadah: “La ilaha illallah, Muhammadur Rasulullah,” which means “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,” and from that moment, Talha became a Muslim. He loved the Prophet very much and wanted to follow his path, and Talha was one of the first ten people to accept Islam.
Even though his family and the people of Makkah became angry with him, he did not stop praying to Allah, and they tried to scare him, and they shouted at him, and some even hurt him, but Talha stayed strong and brave and said, “I believe in Allah, and I will never stop,” and the Prophet (PBUH) smiled at him and said, “You are brave, O Talha.”

Generosity and Support

Talha began to help the other Muslims and gave money to the poor and to families who had no food, and he even gave his clothes and shoes to people who had none. Talha also helped Muslims move to Madinah, and he went there too.

Hero of Uhud

When the enemies came to fight the Muslims in the Battle of Uhud, Talha was one of the best fighters, and he stood beside the Prophet (PBUH) and protected him with his own body.
When some people ran away from the battlefield, Talha stayed and fought with full courage, and he stopped arrows and swords with his arms and back, and he got many wounds on his body, but he did not leave the Prophet. One of his fingers was cut, and his back was hurt, but he still smiled and said, “I am here, O Messenger of Allah.”
After the battle, the Prophet (PBUH) said, “Whoever wants to see a man who walks on the earth but has already earned Paradise, let him look at Talha ibn Ubayd Allah,” and everyone knew that Talha was a hero and that he would go to Jannah (Paradise) because of his bravery and love for the Prophet.

Talha the Generous

After that, Talha kept helping the Muslims, and when someone was poor, he gave them money, and when someone was sad, he gave them food.
When a mother had no clothes for her child, Talha bought new clothes and gave them with a smile. People called him Talha the Generous, and also Talha the Good, because he never kept things for himself, and he used to say, “Allah gives me money, and I must share it.”
Once he gave away so many gold coins that his room was empty, and people asked him, “Why do you give so much?” and he said, “I want my reward from Allah in Jannah.”

Love for People and Teaching Islam

When he walked in the streets, children would run to him and he would give them dates and sweets, and when old people saw him, they made du’a for him because he helped everyone.
He was also a great teacher who told people about Islam, and he used to sit in the mosque and teach young boys how to pray, how to say kind words, and how to listen to their parents.
He said, “Always speak the truth, never lie, never hurt anyone, and always love Allah and His Prophet,” and people felt peace when they sat near Talha.
He used to wake up in the night and pray, and he cried when he read the Quran because his heart was full of love for Allah.

His Role After the Prophet (PBUH)

Talha also helped the leaders of the Muslims after the Prophet died, and he gave advice to Hazrat Abu Bakr, Hazrat Umar, and Hazrat Uthman (RA), and he never asked for reward or power, but only wanted Allah to be pleased with him.
When Talha became old, he still gave food to the hungry, money to the poor, and smiles to the children.
Once a man said to him, “You are very rich,” and Talha said, “No, I only have what Allah has given me, and I must return it to others.”

A Peaceful Ending

One day, when there was some disagreement between Muslims, Talha did not want to fight, and he said, “I want peace, not fighting,” and even when he died, people cried and said, “We have lost one of the best friends of the Prophet.” His body had many marks from the battles he had fought to protect Islam, and people buried him with love and respect, and they said, “May Allah give you the best place in Jannah.”

Lessons From Talha (RA)

Today, when we remember Hazrat Talha ibn Ubayd Allah (RA), we remember a man who was strong, kind, generous, and full of love for Allah and the Prophet.
Children can learn from him that being brave does not mean hurting others, but protecting the weak.Being rich does not mean keeping money, but sharing it.
Being close to the Prophet means following the Sunnah, praying on time, being good to parents and teachers, helping friends, and saying kind words like please, thank you, sorry, and Alhamdulillah. If we try to live like Talha (RA), then Insha’Allah, we can also be close to the Prophet in Jannah, and we can play under the green trees of Paradise, drink from the sweet rivers, and see the smiling faces of all the good people who followed Islam with love and peace.
