Prophet Salih (Alaihis salam) Story

Prophet Salih (A.S.) was a kind and wise messenger of Allah. He was sent to guide a powerful tribe called Thamūd. These people lived many, many years ago in a land with big mountains and beautiful valleys. They were strong and clever. They carved their homes out of rocks and lived in large stone houses. They had farms, animals, water, and many blessings from Allah. But instead of being thankful, the people of Thamūd forgot Allah. They began to worship idols. These idols were just statues made from stone. They could not hear, see, or speak. They could not help or protect anyone. But the people believed the idols had power and asked them for help.

Prophet Salih (Alaihis salam) Story

Allah wanted to bring them back to the truth, so He sent Prophet Salih (A.S.) from among them. He was honest, gentle, and well-known in the community. The people trusted him before he became a prophet. When Salih (A.S.) began telling them about Allah, some were surprised. He said to them, “O my people, worship only Allah. He created you and gave you all that you have. The idols cannot do anything for you.” He reminded them that Allah made the sky, the rain, the earth, and even their strong bodies. He told them that all blessings come from Allah, not from idols. Some people listened quietly, but most of them laughed at him. They said, “You were a good man, Ṣaliḥ. What happened to you? Do you want us to leave the gods of our fathers?”

But Prophet Salih (A.S.) did not give up. He continued to speak kindly. He invited them to believe in Allah and stop worshipping statues. He told them that Allah is the one true God who gives life and causes death. He warned them to stop doing wrong and to stop following their leaders who only wanted power. Still, most of the people refused to believe. Only a few poor and humble people followed him. The leaders became upset. They said, “We will never follow you unless you send us a miracle.”

They wanted a big sign to prove that he was truly a prophet. They pointed to a huge rock and said, “Make a she-camel come out of this rock. If it happens, we will believe you.” Prophet Salih asked Allah for help, and Allah accepted his prayer. Right in front of their eyes, the rock opened and a beautiful, strong, and special she-camel came out. It was a miracle from Allah. The people were shocked. They had never seen anything like it.

Prophet Salih (A.S.) told them, “This she-camel is a sign from Allah. She is not just an animal. She is a test for you. Let her drink from the well on her day, and let your animals drink on the next day. Do not harm her in any way.” At first, the people watched the camel with wonder. Some began to believe. But the leaders were still not happy. They became afraid that people would start following Prophet Salih. So they made a secret plan to get rid of the she-camel. They did not respect the sign from Allah.

One day, some evil men from the tribe attacked the she-camel and hurt her. She died, even though she had done nothing wrong. When Prophet Salih (A.S.) found out, he was very sad. He warned the people again. He said, “You have done a terrible thing. Allah gave you a chance, but you refused. Now His punishment is coming. You only have a short time left.” But the people only laughed. They thought nothing would happen to them.

After three days, the sky roared with a loud sound. The earth began to shake. A terrible earthquake struck their land. The houses made of stone fell down, and the people were crushed. The entire tribe of Thamūd was destroyed. Only those who believed in Allah and followed Prophet Salih (A.S.) were saved. The rest were gone. As Prophet Salih (A.S.) walked away from the ruined city, he said, “I gave you the message of Allah. I told you to listen and change, but you did not listen. Now look at what has happened.”

The story of Prophet Salih (A.S.) teaches us many lessons. We learn that we should always be thankful to Allah for His blessings. We must worship only Him and never follow statues, idols, or anything made by people. We also learn that we should not be proud or arrogant. The people of Thamūd had big houses and strong bodies, but they were punished because they disobeyed Allah. We learn to respect the signs of Allah, whether they are miracles, nature, or teachings. The she-camel was a test, and the people failed it. We must also learn to listen to good advice, even if it comes from someone younger or different. The believers who followed Prophet Salih were saved because they trusted the truth.

We should always speak kindly, like Prophet Salih (A.S.) did, and never give up when we are trying to help others. Allah loves people who are patient and honest. If we follow the right path and obey Allah, He will protect us, just like He protected Prophet Salih (A.S.) and the believers. This story reminds us to choose truth over pride, and to follow Allah before it is too late.
