Prophet Ismail (Alaihis Salam) was a patient and obedient son. He was the son of Prophet Ibrahim (Alaihis Salam) and his mother was Bibi Hajrah. His story teaches us how to obey Allah, how to be kind to our parents, and how to be strong and thankful in times of difficulty. His life was full of faith, good manners, and love for Allah.

When Prophet Ismail(Alaihis Salam) was a baby, Allah tested his parents. Prophet Ibrahim(Alaihis Salam) was told to take his wife Hajrah and baby Ismail to a desert land called Makkah. At that time, Makkah was a dry place. There were no people, no trees, and no water. It was just empty land with hot sun and dry sand. But Prophet Ibrahim (Alaihis Salam) listened to Allah. He trusted Allah’s plan.
He left his wife and baby there with only a little food and water. As he walked away, Bibi Hajrah asked, “Why are you leaving us here?” Prophet Ibrahim(Alaihis Salam) did not answer at first. Then she asked, “Did Allah tell you to do this?” He replied, “Yes.” Bibi Hajrah said, “Then Allah will take care of us.” She had strong faith in Allah. She believed that Allah never leaves His people alone.
When their food and water finished, baby Ismail started crying. He was hungry and thirsty. Bibi Hajrah did not know what to do. But she did not give up. She ran between two hills, called Safa and Marwah, seven times, looking for help or water. She kept praying to Allah. She did not stop, even when she was tired.
Then, by the mercy of Allah, something wonderful happened. Water began to flow from under baby Ismail’s feet. It was a spring of fresh, clean water. Bibi Hajrah was so happy. She thanked Allah and said, “Zamzam,” which means “stop” or “hold,” because she wanted to keep the water from flowing too far. This spring is still flowing today in Makkah, and it is called the Zamzam Well. It is a blessing from Allah because of Bibi Hajrah’s patience and prayers.
Later, some people passed by Makkah and saw the water. They asked Bibi Hajrah if they could live there. She agreed. Slowly, a small town grew around the Zamzam well. Allah was kind and made this place full of life.
As Prophet Ismail (Alaihis Salam) grew up, he became a strong and helpful boy. He obeyed his mother. He was respectful and kind. He helped her with work and never argued with her. He always thanked Allah and prayed. He was honest and polite. Everyone liked him.
One day, Allah tested Prophet Ibrahim(Alaihis Salam) and Prophet Ismail(Alaihis Salam) with a very big test. Prophet Ibrahim (Alaihis Salam) saw a dream. In the dream, he was told to sacrifice his son for Allah. Prophet Ibrahim(Alaihis Salam) was a Prophet, so he knew that dreams like this were commands from Allah. He was very sad, but he wanted to obey Allah.
Prophet Ibrahim(Alaihis Salam) told his son about the dream. He said, “O my son, I have seen in my dream that I must sacrifice you. What do you think?” Prophet Ismail(Alaihis Salam) was not afraid. He was a brave and obedient son. He said, “O my father, do as Allah has told you. You will find me patient, InshaAllah.”
This shows us how strong his faith was. He did not cry or run away. He trusted Allah and was ready to give his life. Prophet Ibrahim(Alaihis Salam) took his son to a quiet place. He laid him down. But just as he was about to sacrifice his son, Allah sent a message. It was a test, and they had passed it. Allah was pleased with them. Instead of Ismail, Allah sent a ram from Heaven to be sacrificed.
This story is remembered every year during Eid al-Adha. Muslims all over the world sacrifice an animal and share the meat with the poor. It teaches us to obey Allah, to be thankful, and to care for others.
Prophet Ismail(Alaihis Salam) continued to live in Makkah. He helped his father build the Kaaba, the first house of worship built for Allah. It is a simple, square-shaped building. Muslims face it when they pray. It is still in Makkah today, and millions of Muslims visit it every year during Hajj.
When they built the Kaaba, Prophet Ibrahim(Alaihis Salam) and Prophet Ismail(Alaihis Salam) made a special prayer. They asked Allah to accept their work and to keep their children and grandchildren as good Muslims. This shows us that even Prophets prayed and asked Allah for help.
Prophet Ismail(Alaihis Salam) became a Prophet too. He taught people to believe in one Allah and to be good to each other. He told people not to lie, not to cheat, and not to hurt others. He reminded them to pray and be kind to the poor. He lived a simple life and always obeyed Allah.
The story of Prophet Ismail(Alaihis Salam) teaches us many lessons. It teaches us to:
- Obey our parents and speak to them with respect.
- Trust Allah even when things are hard.
- Never give up when we are in trouble.
- Be kind, brave, and patient like Ismail and his mother.
- Pray to Allah and ask Him for help.
- Share what we have with others, especially the poor.
Sometimes, life becomes difficult. We may feel sad or scared. But if we pray and trust Allah like Bibi Hajrah did, help will come. If we obey our parents like Prophet Ismail(Alaihis Salam) did, Allah will be pleased with us. If we do good deeds and speak kindly to others, Allah will reward us.
We should try to be like Prophet Ismail(Alaihis Salam). We can help our parents at home. We can be polite to our teachers and friends. We can pray on time and say “Alhamdulillah” when we are happy and “Inna lillah” when we are sad. We should not fight or shout. We should always tell the truth.
Prophet Ismail’s(Alaihis Salam) life was full of tests, but he passed all of them with faith. He is a role model for Muslim children. His story is part of our Hajj, our prayers, and our history. Allah loved Prophet Ismail(Alaihis Salam) because he was honest, patient, and thankful.
Let us try to follow his example in our daily life. Let us be brave, kind, and obedient. Let us listen to our parents, help others, and remember Allah in all that we do. Then, Allah will bless us just like He blessed Prophet Ismail (Alaihis Salam) \and his family.
