The Holy Quran: The Special Book of Islam

The Holy Quran
The Holy Quran

The Holy Quran is the special book of Islam. It is the book of Allah. Allah gave us the Quran to help us live good lives. The Quran tells us what is right and what is wrong. It teaches us to be kind, honest, clean, and thankful.

The Holy Quran is not like other books. It is the best book in the world. It has no mistakes. It will never change. It is the same today as it was when it first came.

How the Quran Was Revealed

The Quran was sent by Allah from the heavens. It came to our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He was chosen by Allah to share the message of Islam. The Holy Quran was not sent all at once. It came slowly, piece by piece. It came over 23 years.

The angel Jibreel (Gabriel) brought the Quran from Allah to the Prophet. Sometimes he brought one verse. Sometimes he brought many verses. Sometimes he came in the day. Sometimes he came in the night.

Whenever the angel Jibreel came, the Prophet listened very carefully. He remembered every word. Then he told the people. The people also listened and remembered. Some people wrote the verses on bones, leaves, or animal skin. Some people just learned it in their hearts.

Learning and Teaching the Quran

The Prophet taught the Quran to his companions. He showed them how to live by the Quran. He said, “The best of you is the one who learns the Holy Quran and teaches it.” This means that learning the Quran is very important.

The Quran is written in Arabic. That is the language Allah chose. It is a very beautiful and deep language. Even today, millions of people read the Holy Quran in Arabic. Many children memorize it. We call them Hafiz. Being a Hafiz is a big honor. Allah gives many rewards to those who read and love the Quran.

Surahs and Ayahs

When we open the Holy Quran, we see that it has 114 chapters. Each chapter is called a Surah. Each Surah has many verses. These verses are called Ayahs. Some Surahs are long. Some are short.

The first Surah is called Surah Al-Fatiha. It is only 7 Ayahs long. But it is very special. We read it in every prayer. It is like a gift from Allah. It is a dua (supplication) and praise. The last Surah is Surah An-Naas. It asks Allah to protect us from harm.

What the Quran Teaches

The Holy Quran talks about many things. It tells us about Allah. It tells us about the Prophets. It tells us about Heaven and Hell. It tells us about prayer, fasting, Zakat, and Hajj.

It tells us to be good to parents, neighbors, and the poor. It tells us not to lie, steal, or be proud. It teaches us to say the truth, help others, and be patient. It is full of wisdom.

Stories in the Quran

The Holy Quran also has stories. These stories are not like fairy tales. They are true stories. They help us learn lessons.

The Holy Quran tells us about Prophet Adam, the first man. It tells us about Prophet Nuh (Noah) and the big flood. It tells us about Prophet Musa (Moses) and Pharaoh. It tells us about Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), Prophet Yusuf (Joseph), and many more. These stories help us be strong, brave, and kind.

One of the stories is about Prophet Yunus. He was in the belly of a big fish. He called to Allah with a special dua. Allah saved him. From this, we learn to always ask Allah for help.

Another story is about Prophet Yusuf. He was very patient. Even when people were unkind, he forgave them. He trusted Allah, and Allah made him a leader.

Living by the Holy Quran

The Quran is not just a book to read. It is a guide to live by. It helps us every day. When we are sad, the Quran gives us hope. When we are confused, the Holy Quran gives us answers. When we are happy, the Quran reminds us to thank Allah.

The Quran is full of light. It makes our hearts clean. It brings peace to our minds. When we listen to the Quran, it feels calm and sweet. It is like a hug for our soul.

Allah says in the Holy Quran, “This is a Book, in which there is no doubt, a guidance for those who fear Allah.” (Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 2). That means this Book has only truth. It is a light in the darkness. It helps us go to Jannah.

Respecting the Quran

We must respect the Holy Quran. We wash our hands before touching it. We keep it in a high, clean place. We do not throw it. We do not eat or talk while reading it. We try to read it every day. Even one Ayah is good.

Even if we cannot read well, we try. Allah sees our effort and rewards us. Some children learn the Quran at home. Some go to madrasa. Some learn from their parents. Some listen to audio. All are good ways.

If we do not understand Arabic, we can read the meaning in our own language. This helps us know what Allah is saying. When we grow older, we learn more. We understand more. The Holy Quran becomes our best friend.

The Holy Quran Helps Us Forever

The Holy Quran also helps us in the grave. When we die, our money and toys stay behind. But our good deeds stay with us. The Holy Quran is one of the best good deeds. It speaks for us. It helps us when we need help the most.

On the Day of Judgment, the Holy Quran will come and say, “O Allah, this person used to read me. Please forgive him.” Isn’t that wonderful?

So we should never forget the Holy Quran. We should make it part of our life. The Quran was first taught by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He was the best teacher. He not only said the words, but lived the words.

His actions were like the Holy Quran. His wife Aisha said, “His character was the Holy Quran.” That means if we follow him, we follow the Holy Quran.

How the Quran Was Preserved

The Quran was kept safe after the Prophet passed away. His companions worked very hard. They collected all the verses. They made one big book. Later, Caliph Uthman made copies and sent them to other cities.

That is how we got the Holy Quran we have today. It has stayed the same for more than 1,400 years. No one changed it. No one added or removed a word. It is still pure. This is a miracle. No other book in the world is like this.

A Treasure for All Muslims

Every Muslim home has a Holy Quran. We read it in Ramadan. We hear it in prayers. We see it in the masjid. We love it like a treasure. It is the light of our life. It is the book from our Creator.

Allah tells us in the Quran: “Indeed, We have sent down the Quran, and surely We will guard it.” (Surah Al-Hijr, Ayah 9). That means Allah is protecting the Quran. It will never be lost. It will never be destroyed. It will always shine.

So let us promise to love the Holy Quran. Let us read it with care. Let us try to learn it, understand it, and follow it. Let us teach it to others. Let us be children of the Holy Quran. Let the Holy Quran be in our hearts and homes.

When we do that, Allah will be happy. He will bless us. He will guide us. He will give us Jannah. Insha’Allah.
