The Story of Hazrat Khadijah (radiyallahu anha)

This is a true story. A long time ago, there lived a kind and smart woman. Her name was Hazrat Khadijah (radiyallahu anha). She lived in a city called Makkah. Hazrat Khadijah(radiyallahu anha) was a rich lady. She had a big shop. She sold clothes, food, and many things. People came to her to buy and sell. Hazrat Khadijah (radiyallahu anha) was not just rich; she was very kind. She helped poor people. She gave food to the hungry. She took care of children. She was always honest. She never told lies.
Everyone in Makkah liked her. They called her “Tahira,” which means “the pure one.” She was a good lady with a clean heart. Hazrat Khadijah (radiyallahu anha) wanted to do good things. She did not like bad people who worshipped idols. She believed in one God, Allah. She wanted to be close to Allah. One day, Hazrat Khadijah (radiyallahu anha) heard about a young man. His name was Muhammad(صلى الله عليه وسلم). He was honest. He was kind. He was good to people. Everyone in the city called him Al-Ameen, the one who is trustworthy. Hazrat Khadijah (radiyallahu anha) wanted Muhammad(صلى الله عليه وسلم) to work for her. She gave him some goods and sent him on a trip to sell them. Muhammad(صلى الله عليه وسلم) did a great job.

He was fair and honest in business. He did not lie or cheat. He came back with good news and good sales. Hazrat Khadijah(radiyallahu anha) was very happy. She asked her helper, Maysarah, “How was Muhammad(صلى الله عليه وسلم)?” Maysarah said, “He is kind, honest, and different from other men.” Hazrat Khadijah (radiyallahu anha) liked Muhammad(صلى الله عليه وسلم). He was not proud. He was gentle. She thought he was special.Hazrat Khadijah(radiyallahu anha) was older than Muhammad(صلى الله عليه وسلم), but she saw that he had a good heart. So, she sent a message to ask: “Will you marry me?” Muhammad(صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “Yes.” And they got married. Their home was full of peace and love. They helped others. They fed the poor. They loved each other.

Hazrat Khadijah (radiyallahu anha) was a good wife. She took care of her family and loved the Prophet(صلى الله عليه وسلم) very much. They had children. Some of their babies died when they were small, and that made them sad. But they stayed patient and trusted Allah. One of their daughters was Fatimah (radiyallahu anha). She was a sweet girl and very special in Islam. Time went by. When Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) was 40 years old, something big happened. He went to a cave named Hira. He liked to sit there and think about life and Allah. One day, Angel Jibreel came to him. The angel said, “Read!” But Muhammad(صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, “I cannot read!” The angel hugged him and said again, “Read, in the name of your Lord.” The Prophet(صلى الله عليه وسلم) was scared. He came home shaking. He said, “Cover me! Cover me!” Hazrat Khadijah (radiyallahu anha) wrapped him in a blanket. She hugged him and said, “Do not be afraid. You are a good man. You help the poor. You are kind. Allah will never leave you.” Hazrat Khadijah (radiyallahu anha) listened to him and believed in him. She said, “You are the Prophet of Allah.” She was the first Muslim. She was the first person to believe in Islam. From that day, Hazrat Khadijah (radiyallahu anha) helped the Prophet(صلى الله عليه وسلم) every day. When people were mean to him, she stood by his side. When people threw dust at him, she cleaned him.

When he was sad, she gave him hope. She gave her money to help Islam. She fed hungry Muslims. She gave her house, her love, and her heart to help the religion grow. Life became hard. The people of Makkah did not like the message of Islam. They made a rule: “No one should sell food to the Muslims!” Prophet Muhammad(صلى الله عليه وسلم), Hazrat Khadijah(radiyallahu anha), and their family had to live in a dry valley called Shi’b Abi Talib. They had no food. They were very hungry. But they stayed strong. Hazrat Khadijah(radiyallahu anha) gave all she had. She never gave up. She shared every piece of food she had.

She told the children, “Be patient. Allah is with us.” After many years, the bad rule ended. But by then, Hazrat Khadijah (radiyallahu anha) became sick. Her body was weak. She had given all her energy to help the Prophet(صلى الله عليه وسلم) and Islam. The Prophet(صلى الله عليه وسلم) stayed with her. He held her hand. He was sad. Hazrat Khadijah (radiy allahu anha) looked at him with love. Then she closed her eyes. She had passed away. The Prophet(صلى الله عليه وسلم) cried. He missed her every day. He said, “She believed in me when no one else did. She helped me when no one helped me.” That year was called the Year of Sorrow. Even after she died, the Prophet(صلى الله عليه وسلم) always remembered her. He would send food to her friends.

He would speak about her with love. He never forgot her kindness. Allah loved her too. Do you know what Allah gave her? A house in Jannah (Paradise)! It is made of pearls. It is peaceful. There is no sadness there, only joy. Allah gave her that gift because she was strong, kind, honest, and full of faith. We can learn so much from Hazrat Khadijah (radiy allahu anha). She teaches us to be kind, to be honest, to help the poor, to love our families, and to stay strong even when life is hard. She never said bad words. She never hurt people. She always gave.

She always believed in what was right. If we want to be good Muslims, we must be like her. We must smile, share, help, and believe. We must say “thank you,” say “sorry,” and always pray to Allah. Hazrat Khadijah (radiy allahu anha) was not just a wife. She was a hero of Islam. She was brave. She was patient. She was loving. She was the first believer. She is one of the best women in the world. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم)said, “Many men are great, but only four women are the best: Maryam, Asiyah, Fatimah, and Khadijah.” So, let us try to be like her. Let us read, learn, and follow her way. May Allah be pleased with Khadijah. May Allah help us be kind like her.
